A PHP 300 Stay for 2 at Casa Miranda, San Juan, Siquijor

...was so far the cheapest accommodation we had in our entire cheapbacking journey. And no, it is not discounted or under promo. 


HOW TO GET HERE:

  • Via motorbike: coming from Siquijor town center, just follow through the circumferential road of Siquijor going to San Juan. Casa Miranda can be seen along the road.

  • PHP 300 - Small room (double sized bed) with toilet
  • PHP 450 - Big room with toilet
  • PHP 500 - Big room with toilet and kitchen

THE EXPERIENCE:

One should not expect so much from this very basic fan room. But not to underestimate as it can provide you a sound sleep, no bed bugs, a decent double - sized bed, just the right temperature despite the lack of airconditioning of the room. Though not well maintained and one can easily notice its poorly cleaned room and a very small toilet, what it offers were enough to make you just ignore its shortcomings. Besides, considering its price, at PHP 300 room, you definitely had a good deal! Where can you find a beachfront accommodation, hammocks facing the sea to pass time, or just relax and feel the fresh air. It also has a store where you can buy snacks, toiletries, etc. Aside from where the rooms where located, it has a large two storey wooden house to which its first floor serves as the lobby and a restaurant which serves home cooked meal. The second floor may be where the owner or the management resides. Overall, recommending this place if you only plan to stay here to sleep.

First floor is where the 'lobby' or 'receiving area' is located, also a restaurant which serves home - cooked meals, in front of it is where the motorbikes for rent are also parked (ranging from PHP 250-300 per day)

Though Daranak Falls is commonly known as a side trip for Mt. Sembrano among hikers, we managed to squeeze our 2day trip to visit the place before the hike. As seen from the "Rockies 2" of Mt. Daraitan   The highlight of the trip, of course, was scaling Mt. Daraitan.
